This policy explains what data the Tahwa app («طهوة», Android package com.intelget.tahwa) and the website tahwa.app handle, and how. In short: there are no accounts, and your data stays on your device.

1. No account, no sign-up

The app does not ask you to register and does not collect your name, email address or phone number. We do not operate servers that store your data.

2. Data stored only on your device

The app keeps the following in local storage on your device (a Hive database). It is not sent to us or to anyone else:

• Ingredients you select in your pantry.
• Favorite recipes, your recipe notes and your weekly meal plan.
• Shopping lists.
• “My recipes” that you write yourself, including any photos you attach.
• Your family profile: allergies, disliked ingredients and diet preference.
• Settings, such as the city you choose for Ramadan iftar and suhoor times.

Uninstalling the app or clearing its data in your device settings permanently deletes this data. If you share a recipe or shopping list (for example via WhatsApp), you choose where it goes.

3. Permissions and why we use them

• Microphone / speech recognition: used only when you tap the microphone button to say your ingredients. Speech-to-text is performed by your device’s or operating system’s speech recognition service (for example Google’s service on Android), which may process the audio according to your device settings and that provider’s policy. We do not record, store or receive your audio.
• Camera / photos: used only when you choose to attach a photo to one of your own recipes. The photo is stored on your device and is not uploaded.
• Notifications and exact alarms: used for cooking timers, to alert you when a step is done.

You can deny or revoke any permission in your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. Google may collect and use data such as your device’s advertising ID, device type, approximate IP-based location and ad interactions to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, as described in Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent through Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time from the app’s settings. Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. Plus subscribers do not see ads.

5. Subscriptions and payments (Google Play)

The “Plus” subscription is sold through Google Play Billing. Payment and card details are handled entirely by Google; we never see or store them. We only receive the subscription status from Google in order to unlock Plus features.

6. We do not sell your data

We do not sell any data, do not share it for marketing, and do not use our own analytics or tracking tools in the app.

7. The tahwa.app website

The website consists of static pages with no accounts or forms. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, and the hosting provider may log standard technical data (such as IP address and time of request) for security and operations.

8. Children

The app is intended for adults who cook and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

If we update this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date.
